Form, Structure and Memory of a Body

 

Taking a set of white clothes, collected from a community in Santiago do Cacém, as a raw material, textile art students were asked to develop some experimental approaches. Considering the memory of a(n absent) body, the symbolism of the garments or their structure, such approaches allowed the students to experience and experiment textile material plasticity. From this point on, two or three-dimensional forms were created, evoking metamorphosis, plasticity, metaphor, criticism and irony.
