LOCUS is an Arts Based and Curatorship research project. Its aim is to gather a different set of perspectives on the individual/ community relationship with the idea of place, in order to create a “poetic archive” about experiences and memory of the place we inhabit. Considered is the idea of place as an imaginary space, place of memory, place of identity.

Relying in a non-conventional set of participants, among hum are students, teachers and artists from different territories within Portugal (Lisbon, Loures, Santiago do Cacém, Coruche), Romania (Constanta), Poland (Gdansk) and Finland (Helsinki). This project is aimed to collect documentation (of visual, written or oral sources) in order to create artistic objects which, as a whole, may be able to unveil different modes of connection between each individual, or collective, and the idea of place.

Within such context, the purpose of this website is to gather and spread the “poetic archive” composed by all the participations of the project. Focused will not only be the results, but also the work processes that gave rise to them.
